Greetings from Saskatchewan!!! - Day 1
Saskatchewan, October 23, 2002
By Kelley Powers
The RNT crew has arrived and have been
greeted by cold weather, light snow fall, and some fine hunting! The hunting
has been tough lately due to the colder temperatures that have arrived. But
as colder temperatures arrive, so do mass amounts of ducks and geese. Today
our time was focused on goose hunting and acquiring footage for the next In
The Hunt video from RNT Productions.
Two parties of hunters had a successful morning of goose hunting out of new Power Hunter blinds. The afternoon was spent scouting so that we could have several fields lined up for the next few days. Below you can watch two video clips from this mornings hunt. Notice how well the Avery® Power Hunters™ blend in with the new Avery RealSnow™ Spray. Be sure to check in daily for updates, video clips and photos of the RNT Crew in Saskatchewan. [Watch Video Clip 1 - Watch Video Clip 2]
Snowing in Saskatchewan!!! - Day 2
Saskatchewan, October 24, 2002
By Kelley Powers
Yesterday, there were a lot of geese that moved into the area from the northern part of the province due to the recent cold-front. During the scouting session yesterday afternoon, we counted over ten-thousand Canada geese within three square-miles. Due to the large abundance of geese in the area, we were wanting to find a good hill-top field so that we could put out a massive spread of decoys. We found a good highly-elevated field that was holding around three-thousand dark geese and there were a ton of other geese in nearby fields. [Watch Video Clip 1] However, when we arrived what we found was not what we were wanting to see.
There was hardly enough stubble to cover the Power Hunters™ Blinds, but due to the height of the blinds and the depth of the snowfall, we were able to blend the blinds in perfectly! Watch some video action below of today’s footage. Notice how good the blinds look when they are in the snow. If there was any concern AT ALL that the Power Hunter Blinds would flip back over in strong winds, rest ASSURED we hunted in 25-30mph winds today and there was not a single problem about the fliptop. These blinds are "goose killers." We also used the new Avery RealSnow™ Spray and it was a hunt saver! [Watch Video Clip 1]
Saskatchewan is INCREDIBLE!!! - Day 3
Saskatchewan, October 25, 2002 By Kelley Powers
Only one word to describe today’s hunt: INCREDIBLE!!! Plenty of birds,
strong south wind, and the ability to hide were the secrets to today’s hunt.
Four hunters were limited by 11:00 AM. That is even more impressive
considering that we shot our first goose at 9:30.
A party of four plus a
cameraman hunted over a barley and wheat field that was still wind-rowed
due to the farming practices in theis field. The wind-rows were perfect to set-up
and hide the Power Hunter blinds. The video clip below is is
actually from yesterday’s hunt (Day 2)from a hill-top field. We felt that it was
interesting enough to share! Check back tomorrow for an awesome field duck
hunt (hopefully!!) . We will be hunting a field with tons of mallards and
also several geese. [Watch Video Clip 1]
Until tomorrow,
Kelley Powers and the RNT Crew
